SAARC federation of oncologists-Nepal (SFO-N) is a sister federation to SAARC federation of oncologists (SFO) established in 2001 A.D. SFO-N has an objective of strengthening coordination, unity, cordiality, professional code of conduct and courtesy among professionals engaged in the field of Oncology to encourage help and serve in identification, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, research and education of the source of cancer prevalent universally among the human race.
In March of 2001 Prof. A.B.M.F.Karim hosted a SAARC conference on Clinical Oncology in Bangladesh, where the pioneers in oncology came together and A.B.M.F. Karim proposed to form an umbrella organization amongst the SAARC countries to strengthen the cancer care in the region. Consensus was builtthen Dr. MK Piya from Nepal was unanimously voted as the Patron of SFO, for the reason that Nepal host the central regional SAARC secretariat.
SFO-N actively works to protect and promote professional interests of doctors engaged in cancer control activities.SFO-N participates in both government and non-government sectors programme as one of the major stakeholder advocating cancer control program and policies. SFO-N has been regularly organizing seminars, CMEs, conferences and promote research activities.
SFO-N precisely helps its member to maintain relationship with national and international associations and institutions with similar objective as of the society and also to obtain their memberships.
